PerceptionsByMayer is a Destin, Florida based photography company that is family owned and operated.  Joseph Mayer, resides with his family iin Bluewater Bay, Florida and operates primarily in the Destin and Beaches of South Walton area.  Born in Texas, Joseph moved to Eglin Airforce base as a young child with his military family and knows the Emerald Coast well and the growth it has acheived over the last  two decades.  As an adult, Joseph briefly returned to the Dallas, Texas area to take advantage of a job opportunity but quickly felt drawn to return to the beach.  Just two years away were enough to solidify Joe's belief that these sugar-white beaches were his permanent home.

Photography had been a life-time hobby before Joe finally took the necessary leap of faith and put his talents to the test.  Originally working in 35mm and medium format, digital photography was a natural transition for Joe and has allowed him the opportunity to work on some large scale projects.

The name of the company was born from Joe's natural ability to perceive life differently from those around him.  Never yearning to conform, Joseph's life and photography transcend the boundaries of commonality and capture the emotion of a moment in time.

Joe's wife Amber (aka office slave) also participates in this family venture by doing the "dirty work".  This means I write most of this stuff, do the accounting and the marketing.  I am also Joe's human blackberry - so I remind him of appointments, obligations and his cholesterol level.  Our family is diverse like a quilt and our home is always open to those who need a family to anchor them in life.  We are proud to be "Vagabonds!".
